Our Story

Hi! My name is Shelby Wiltz and I am the new story organizer for Equality PA. I want to hear your story to help make sure that we are all heard in PA. Tell your story here.

As you know, our story does not end with marriage equality. In spite of some cities passing nondiscrimination ordinances, today in Pennsylvania, a majority –68%– of LGBT people can still be fired, denied housing and refused public accommodations.

Here’s the good news: most Pennsylvanians agree that discrimination is wrong and know that we all deserve an equal opportunity to live and work in our communities regardless of our sexual orientation or gender identity.

However, the unfortunate reality is that while many people do support an end to legal discrimination, they are also unaware that our law even needs to be updated. In fact, most are shocked to discover that LGBT people are not already protected.

It is time our state knew the truth about discrimination. Presently, we are the closest we’ve ever come to gaining an equal opportunity to earn a living and provide for our families without fear. Help us get the job done for every LGBT Pennsylvanian by sharing your story with us today.

At Equality PA, we know that stories have the power to change lives. Be a part of the conversation in 2015 by speaking up about your experience with discrimination in employment, housing, or public accommodations.
