Forward progress in Bloomsburg, Campaign for fairness continues

Thanks to everyone who attended the rally and town hall meeting last night to support a nondiscrimination ordinance in Bloomsburg. Over 100 people attended the rally and 30 of the 40 people who spoke at the meeting spoke were in support of updating the laws in Bloomsburg to prevent discrimination. The speakers included concerned residents, legal experts, clergy, small business owners, students, and educators.

The good news is that the town council passed a resolution asking for the state to take action on this, but unfortunately the town council voted not to proceed on an ordinance for Bloomsburg.

We are disappointed the council did not respond to the clear broad public support in favor of the ordinance, but we are happy to see that the council members are calling for a statewide solution for discrimination protections. The campaign for fairness in Bloomsburg will continue, and Equality PA will be there to support it.
