When PA Competes, PA Wins

It’s been over a decade since Equality PA has been working to protect LGBT people from discrimination. Because, even though it’s hard to believe, it’s still legal to be fired from your job, evicted from your home, or turned away from a business just because of who you are or who you love.

After all of these years, with all of the changes that have happened in the world, we know that now is the time to update our laws to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people from discrimination.

That’s why we are very excited to team up with PA Competes. PA Competes is a new campaign bringing together a bipartisan coalition of legislators, business leaders, officials from the education community and citizens to make sure we can win discrimination protections in Pennsylvania.

We want to invite you to join us in supporting PA Competes.

If you believe it’s time to secure non-discrimination protections for LGBT Pennsylvanians, we hope that you will support Equality PA and PA Competes in the coming months.

Our discrimination laws were written in 1955 to ensure that all citizens, regardless of race, ancestry, age, sex, national origin, and disability, can fully participate in the state’s economy. If we want to grow our economy in Pennsylvania and attract and retain top talent and the most qualified workers, we need to make sure to include protecting people based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Business leaders agree that a workplace free of discrimination supports growth and innovation. That’s why all 23 of the Fortune 500 companies based in Pennsylvania have nondiscrimination policies in place. And Pennsylvanians overwhelmingly agree, too—with 78% supporting an LGBT-inclusive update to Pennsylvania’s non-discrimination law. If we’re going to win this year, we need you on board.

Please support our new partner PA Competes and keep up with the campaign on Facebook and Twitter.
