October is LGBT History Month!

The LGBT community is the only community worldwide that is not taught its history at home, in public schools, or in religious institutions. For this reason, LGBT History Month was created in 1994 to celebrate and teach the history of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.

Today, the Equality Forum helps our community celebrate its accomplishments every October by coordinating LGBT History Month. They commemorate the achievements of 31 LGBT icons each day in October, featuring them with a video, bio, bibliography, downloadable images, and other resources. Each day you can learn about a new LGBT icon and celebrate the accomplishments they have made for our community.

Throughout October, we’ll be participating in LGBT History Month and sharing information about icons who have made a difference in our world. To learn how you can celebrate LGBT History Month, watch the video below or visit Equality Forum’s website.
