More movement on nondiscrimination! Contact your Senator now!

Over the weekend, an LGBT nightclub in Orlando became the site of horrific violence and death.

We grieve with Orlando for the LGBT community that has—for too long—been the target of hate crimes and violence.

Despite how far we have come in securing more equal rights, the shooting over the weekend is a sobering reminder of the work still to be done to ensure LGBT people are safe and protected from unfair treatment and harm.

That’s why—in the midst of this earth shattering attack—we are heartened to see that the Pennsylvania legislature is taking steps to advance LGBT non-discrimination in the Keystone State.

Click here to send a message to your lawmakers now to let them know you support comprehensive non-discrimination protections for LGBT Pennsylvanians.

In the past week, Senator Pat Browne introduced three bills, one each to protect LGBT Pennsylvanians from unfair treatment in housing, employment and public accommodations (places like restaurants, shopping malls, parks and doctors offices).

Now, an important committee hearing and vote is scheduled on the first of these bills TOMORROW.

Let me be clear: The momentum is very real—and it’s unprecedented.

After decades of fighting for equal rights, we are on the brink of making history. And with hearts heavy under the weight of recent acts of terror and violence against the LGBT community—now more than ever it is essential that these non-discrimination protections receive the consideration they deserve.

As lawmakers prepare to debate these bills for the first time, make sure that your legislators know you fully support LGBT non-discrimination in the Keystone State. Click here to rush a message today urging your lawmakers to support protections for LGBT Pennsylvanians in employment, housing and public accommodations.

So long as LGBT Pennsylvanians lack fair and equal protections under the law, we will be thought of and treated as second-class citizens who are somehow less worthy of dignity and respect.

This weekend, that notion was taken to its most extreme iteration—and innocent, beautiful lives were lost.

Now more than ever we must remain vigilant in the fight for equal rights.
