Are You a Rebel? Stand Up to Representative Daryl Metcalfe

Last week, within hours of the Supreme Court striking down DOMA and Proposition 8, Representative Daryl Metcalfe launched his latest attack on the LGBT community — cutting short our celebration of the Court’s historic rulings.

When openly gay Representative Brain Sims rose to speak on the House floor about the Supreme Court’s decisions, Rep. Metcalfe shut him down – claiming that he silenced Rep. Sims because he was speaking in “open rebellion to God.”

We know that Rep. Sims was simply speaking out for equality, and we at Equality Pennsylvania are standing by him. But we also know that Rep. Metcalfe got one thing right: we are in open rebellion.

We are in an open rebellion against inequality, against injustice, and against those who seek to hold us down!

More than 200 years ago this week, our country was formed because our Founding Fathers stood in open rebellion to assert that we are all equal. But in Pennsylvania, LGBT people are not equal. We’re fired for who we are; we’re evicted for who we love; we’re denied the protection of marriage; we’re made the victims of harassment and violence.

It’s time we say no more. We will no longer stand for inequality. We will no longer be treated as second-class. We will rise up in OPEN REBELLION.

Are you a rebel against inequality? Will you stand up and show Rep. Metcalfe what you’re made of? Then click here and share this graphic to let your friends know that you’re in open rebellion.
